A: These are the guidelines.
Irrigation, Cultivation, Fertilization
Irrigation:
Proper watering is absolutely essential and the base factor to having a healthy landscape. The rest doesn't matter if watering is insufficient.
Cultivation:
Proper planting and maintenance is also essential. Make sure plants and turf are planted in the proper conditions and environments are a must.
Ensuring maintenance equipment has sharp blades prior to mowing will ensure there's no tearing of the leaf blades which can leave an opening for diseases.
Fertilization:
Lastly, maintaining the proper nutrients throughout each season is essential to ensure your landscape is not lacking any vital nutrients to keep it growing strong and healthy.
Knowing these functions in order is great, but it's crucial to have the right plant in the right environment, whether that be turf variety or plant variety.
A: A professional evaluation is suggested. Unfortunately, in today society, there are many "perts" but few experts. Make sure whoever evaluates the system gives you a clear understanding of why something is good or bad in your system.
You don't necessarily have a great Irrigation system just because the areas are getting wet. You must be applying 1/2" - 3/4" of water in all areas regularly.
Rain is great but it rarely applies the correct amount of water needed to shut the system off. Rain sensors are a must have.
